Autumn Dusk

We're moving into those hazy autumn sunsets  now as winter gets ever nearer.

Gives a change of light and hues - not to mention a drop in temperatures.

Misty (our dog) enjoyed her walk over our field today.

Warm in the sunshine, but definitely autumn colours now.

Railway Bridge Removal - Greenock A8 Road

The old railway bridge over East Hamilton Street, near Sinclair Street, was removed early this morning.

It will now be cut up and disposed of in sections.

This is part of the work being undertaken as part of the regeneration of the James Watt Dock

A new marina and housing complex are under construction and the dock will be hosting the Tall Ships Race in 2011.

Greenock Model Railway Club - On the Move

Greenock Model Railway Club had their big removal day today as they recovered their layouts etc from a container in Greenock and delivered to their new home in Fort Matilda station.

Gorgeous sunshine ensure everything stayed dry, and it's great that they are again located beside real railway tracks.

Their forthcoming exhibition in the Greenock Town Hall is on 6/7 November - and you can Visit their Web Site by - Clicking Here

HMS Belos - River Clyde Areas

It's been a while since I updated the Blog.

Combination of factors but let's hope for more in the near future.

This is quite an unusual vessel and seen heading to Glasgow this afternoon.

My Cat - Skipper

 Looks like butter wouldn't melt.

Don't be fooled, as adorable and friendly as he is, birds, mice, moles, and rabbits don't stand much of a chance when he's on the prowl.

A cat of two halves for sure.

Clydebuilt Maritime Museum - Braehead

The 'Clydebuilt Maritime Museum' situated at Braehead shopping centre is due to close in the middle of October this year.

More of our shipbuilding heritage slips from the grasp of future generations - how sad this is .......

It's well worth a visit, so get you skates on before it's gone.

Strathclyde Fire Brigade Preservation Group

Strathclyde Fire Brigade Preservation Group had a small display at the entrance to the public access to RFA Fort Rosalie open day.

Two appliances, and the members were (as usual) kept busy with questions from interested visitors.

RFA Fort Rosalie Visits Greenock

Scotts' Shipbuilding celebrates a 300th Anniversary next year.

Fort Rosalie was launched  in 1976 (as Fort Grange) and today she returned to her birthplace and was open to the public for viewing.

A very worthwhile tour and the crew were excellent in their hospitality.

Wish we had more days like this in Greenock.

Visit from a Friend

Had a visit from an old friend and ex-colleague from T-Mobile today.

Enjoyed a nice lunch at the 'Cafe Royale' Chinese restaurant, then Jo bought a Greenock Telegraph 2011 Calendar - which I duly signed on my two winning entries.

Ice cream and snowballs followed at the Lyle Hill, then showed Jo around some of the nicer parts of Greenock before she departed to return home to Montrose.

The great and warm weather was an added bonus.
