... and it snowed

Today we were treated to very heavy snow falls - the worst November snow in 17 years according to the news.

So, a mixture of dread and appreciation with this weather.

Travel is nigh on impossible, but it's all so white and quiet making it hard not to enjoy.

HMS Ark Royal - Heads Out of the Clyde

Well today HMS Ark Royal departed after off-loading her munitions at Glen Mallon.

Sadly she left in atrocious weather conditions on this, her final voyage in the Clyde.

So sad to see her leave as part of the savage cuts that our military are enduring at this time.

We wish her well on her final tour.

"Shoveler" - Heading Up to Glasgow

On a nice still winter day - 'Shoveler' is heading up to Glasgow.

These images show her passing Port Glasgow in the low, late, winter sun.

HMS Ark Royal - Final Visit to the Clyde

HMS Ark Royal - Royal Navy's Flagship made her final visit to the Clyde today.

She transited Loch Long and berthed at the Glen Mallon jetty where she will unload her ordnance before heading North on Wednesday.

A sad day indeed, and the weather today did not give her a calm welcome.

Many enthusiasts (like myself) gathered near Glen Mallon to record what is now a historic - though very sad - occasion.

Myths & Legends Firework Display

The fireworks were part of Inverclyde's 'Myths & Legends' festival weekend.

I have to say the festival - in my view - has gone down every year from it's original concept a few years back.

It was a cold night and I was totally underwhelmed with the fireworks. Others around me echoed the same sentiments -one young lady saying it was 'rubbish'.

We could see Helensburgh's display across the river and it looked much more impressive.

Let's hope things are given fresh start next year and it all gets back on track.

The Greenock Model Railway Club held the first day of their annual exhibition today.

It seemed very well attended and the displays were very busy with kids of all ages enjoying the fun.

(HMS) Duncan - First Sea Trials

Dragon heading to open water to conduct the first of her trials.

She doesn't get her - HMS - designation until handed over to the Royal Navy.

Weather and conditions were very poor for getting good images.
