Wander Around Greenock Docks

Quite cold today, but went for a stroll around the docks area of Greenock .

Rewarded with a few images.

Edinburgh Visit - The Zoo

Last minute decision this morning to head East and visit Edinburgh Zoo.

I'll not get into the argument as to the suitability of Zoos - but some rewarding sights, and some sad ones.

Will probably return later in the year when the weather is a bit better, and the nights longer.

HMS Ramsey - Dry Docking at Garvel, Greenock

HMS Ramsey came over to Greenock today and entered the Garvel Dry Dock.

She was escorted by SD Jupiter and SD Nimble - the Serco tugs.

All the crew from all the vessels that I was in close proximity to today were bright and cheery with waves being exchanged - now that was nice.

Dumbarton Castle

At last managed a visit over to Dumbarton Castle. Weather was fair, though a very heavy shower as I was at the summit.

While at the Castle I took out a membership to Historic Scotland.

The young lady at reception - Stacey - was very helpful and a good ambassador for the castle and Historic Scotland.

'Caledonian Isles' - arrives at Greenock

A nice sunny day, though treacherous as the icy pavements are both wet and slippery.

'Caledonian Isles' arriving at James Watt Dock and will probably go in to the Garvel Dry Dock tomorrow for her winter refit.

Anarchos - Cargo Ship

'Anarchos' seen as she headed past the East India Harbour  in Greenock, on her way upriver to Glasgow.

Met Gerry at the harbour, so nice for a wee catch up as hadn't seen him in a while.

Busy River Clyde in January

The River is beginning to get busier as January progresses.

The RFA vessel 'Fort George' moved from Gareloch to Loch Striven before her final move down South where she will be decommissioned.

Another sad loss to the fleet which is ever dwindling.
