Greenock Docks

Another wee wander around the docks today in the warm sunshine.

Incredibly warm for March, and some nice light and skies help the images along.

Around Greenock Docks

A quick turn around the docks at Greenock today after the golf.

We have the SD Waterman looking resplendent having just undergone a session in the Garvel dry dock.

Pilot cutter - 'Toward' - seems to be berthed at the James Watt Dock Marina - wonder if she will be sold with the arrival of the Gantock?

And finally we have a visitor in the East India Harbour in the shape of the Clansman from Leith.

Taio Frontier - Bulk Carrier

Taio Frontier, a Bulk Carrier, heads out past Port Glasgow after heading down from Glasgow.

A lovely warm evening helped make the images an easy shoot.

Fraser's Dragoons - Dumbarton Castle

A great day out at Dumbarton Castle today with spring weather.

Fraser's Dragoons presented their re-enactment much to the pleasure and enjoyment of a large crowd.

Muskets, pikes, and swords were demonstrated. The musket vollies were both spectacular visually and deafeningly loud.

This was to take us back to 1645 when Scotland was under the control of the Royalists.

My highlight was the dragoons charging to where I was kneeling taking photographs and unexpectedly - to me - they continued right past me. Fantastic.

I applaud the group with their dedication and friendliness to their audience.

Serco - Garvel Dry Dock

Popped in to the James Watt Dock on my way home and grabbed a few of the Garvel.

Two 'Serco' vessels are in for maintenance.

A Wee Trip to Millport

Such a lovely spring sunny day today that I opted for a trip to Millport.

Caught a reasonable shot of the 'Solitaire' as I passed through Largs.

Across on the CalMac ferry to Cumbrae, then the bus to Millport about four miles down the island.

It felt more like summer and fish and chips was firmly on the menu. The local shop is owned by a very hospitable Turk and the food was excellent.

Then on to a nice ice cream with raspberry sauce to round off the lunch.

A good blather with the owner of the cycle hire shot and he suggested the seals would be a worthwhile visit - so duly obliged.

Walked back to the Cumbrae slip for the ferry and back in Largs about 18:00.

A great day out and very rewarding on all fronts.
