Garelochhead Railway Station - Steam Train Activity

Second attempt to catch one of the West Highland steam locomotives.

Tried yesterday and missed her by less than a minute.

Met up with Paul H from - Clydesite - which was nice, and also Donnie - who kindly assisted with local knowledge.

Two really nice guys.

River Clyde - Other Side

An early run out today and across the river.

Light was poor, and weather not sparkling either.

Some activity near Faslane Naval Base.

Down by the River (Clyde)

Haircut day today - so grabbed a few shots before the final cut.

Scot Explorer was last seen by me as she loaded timber in Buckie harbour earlier this month.

Scot Explorer passes Custom House Quay - Greenock

Stavros S Niarchos was preparing to sail and this gave me an opportunity to see some of the final crew training before she departed Greenock to sail to Lamlash

Final crew training before departure

Two of Svitzer's tugs sailed out to assist in the berthing of Elisabeth Knutsen at the Finnart oil terminal.  Busy morning with a fair amount of river traffic including a submarine heading to Loch Goil.

Day Trip to Glasgow

A day trip to Glasgow to have my camera sensor cleaned.

Unusually for me, the train seemed the best mode of transport.

View of my train carriage

Carried on over to the People's Palace - by bus with my pass. Walked back later for the exercise before catching the train home.

Around Port Glasgow & Greenock waterfronts

Well, I met this guy and we chatted. He was saying how quiet the river is these days with little in the way of shipping on the River.

I explained that there was actually a lot more than he might think.

The following are just some of the vessels spotted within a two hour  period - and yes - the weather was THAT good.

PS - I haven't included the seal and flight of three swans, nor the 'Ayton Cross' and  'Battler' as they went past on their way to harbour.

Tall Ships - Custom House Quay, Greenock

After our trip to Glasgow we headed on down to Greenock.

Stavros S Niarchos had arrived so we had the joy of seeing both her and HMS Bounty tied up at the same place, and on a nice day too.
