Busy River Clyde Today

Grabbed these shots after leaving Morrisons where we were shopping, and before we headed home.

Lucky to get them between showers, and met up with John and Gerry for a quick chat too.

Nice to see the river busy.

Queen Mary 2 - Greenock Visit

The world's largest cruise liner - QM2  - arrived in Greenock this morning.

We could all have done with some better weather, but hey ho, it's Greenock in September.

I was very kindly hosted aboard on of our local Svitzer tugs - 'Svitzer Milford' - so my sincere thanks to them for their kind offer.

I was extended a very kind invitation to meet and greet the 'Queen Mary 2' arrival aboard the Svitzer tug - 'Svitzer Milford'

I could hardly resist and had a great time with the management and crew, who were very helpful and friendly throughout.

Stormy Weather - Clyde Coast

Well the forecast was correct and we've caught the tail end of Hurricane Katia.

Still, it's a good opportunity to get a few 'wet' shots, while keeping warm and dry myself.

West Highland Railway Line - Wet and Windy

A trip up to Crianlarich this morning with expectations of seeing three steam locomotives.

Sadly as there were a few failures we only saw two, and the weather was like the first day of winter.

Very, very wet - and windy - just to drive it in to the cameras.

Persevered and managed a few images, and also carried on up to Tyndrum for a second bite at the cherry. Weather - if anything - got worse.

Queen Elizabeth - First Trip to Greenock

The Cunard cruise liner Queen Elizabeth - on her maiden season - arrived at Greenock for the first time on a very dreich Scottish morning.

She was met by a busy Esplanade with many locals turning out to see and photograph her arrival.

The Svitzer tug Anglegarth greeted her with hoses spraying water - which added to the rain already there.

The Queen Elizabeth is the second largest Cunarder ever built - weighing in at 92,000-tonnes.
