St Andrews

Went for a day trip to St Andrews with two of my sons - Kevin and Fraser.

Nice weather on arrival but clouded over as the day went on.

Aarti Prem - Departing

Aarti Prem - the large cargo ship berthed at Inchgreen fitting out quay for repair work left this afternoon.

She is en route to Bremerhaven,  I assume to resume her normal work.

West Highland Line - The Great Marquess

Today saw the first steam train of the season head to Fort William.

This was the 'Great Britain V' tour with the Great Marquess - 61994 - locomotive pulling.

She had a few difficulties before she arrived at Crianlarich.

I believe the problem was with the coal as the locomotive was fine and steps were taken to rectify before she departed Crianlarich - about an hour late.

After braving a trek to the hills beyond Tyndrum a few images were taken as she crossed the viaduct.

Valiant in James Watt Dock

A few images of the 'Valiant'- UK Border Agency's cutter.

She was berthed in James Watt Dock today so a good opportunity to get a few images.

Balmoral and PS Waverley

The Balmoral and the PS Waverley made a wee bit of history today as they both entered the Garvel Dry Dock for pre-season maintenance.

It was good to see the two elderly ladies together and something a bit special that they are both in the dock.

I expected a larger crowd to witness this, it was fairly quiet which surprised me.

River Clyde - Early Evening

Our first cruise ship of the year - 'Grand Princess' - departed Greenock this evening.

As she departed the container ship 'Lystind' promptly came in and secured the berth at the Ocean terminal.

She's Back - PS Waverley

 That icon - PS Waverley - made her first journey down the river from Glasgow today.

She did some manoeuvring in the river and went part way up Loch Long before berthing at Custom House Quay in Greenock for the night.

Tomorrow morning she makes her way up the the Garvel Dry Dock where she and the 'Balmoral' will have essential maintenance work carried out before they start their summer seasons. 

Good to see her back again.
