'Golden Cross' - Final Journey for This Tug

The 'Golden Cross' is a privately owned tug that was expected to be restored.

I have previously mentioned her in my BLOG when she was beached after her moorings broke.

She had been based in Falmouth but was brought in to our waters in 2011. Originally launched in 1955 she was built by Scott and Sons of Bowling.

She broke free from her mooring in May of this year and was eventually beached on the Cowal shore near Carrick Castle, as she was identified as in danger of sinking.

A decision was made that she should be scrapped and today she was towed to Roseneath where she will be inspected prior to scrapping.

A sad end for this old lady.

'N Loire' Departing Glasgow and Out to Sea

The 'N Loire' bulk carrier was scheduled to leave Glasgow last night, but poor visibility with fog prevent a safe departure even though the tugs made the trip upriver.

This allowed me to get some images in the daylight, so I headed up to Braehead for 10:00 this morning.

Got a few images as she departed and then headed home where I got some more from my window.

Then on down to port Glasgow to get a final few shots a she passed Port Glasgow on her outward passage to sea.

'Hebridean Isles' Arrives For Annual Service

'Hebridean Isles' Arrived in Greenock for her annual winter service.

She arrived just before sunset but the fading light was very attractive and the river was calm.

Quite a slow passage as she entered the dock - better safe than sorry I guess.

Once she had berthed I still had a bit of spare time so ventured up to the Lyle Hill and got quite a good image from the top.

Normand Subsea - Visit to Greenock

The 'Normand Subsea' arrived at the Greenock Ocean Terminal this morning.

She has been before - May 2012 I believe.

She is a Survey and Light Construction vessel specifically designed for inspection, maintenance and repair work, and also serves as an offshore supply vessel.

My Day Around the River Clyde

A fairly early start and headed up to Braehead to catch the bulk carrier 'Golden Lyderhorn' depart from Glasgow.

Fortunate enough to also catch the 'Aller' as she made her way upriver.

Then worked my way downriver and stopped off at home to get a few images as the 'Golden Lyderhorn' passed Langbank.

Finally, down to Port Glasgow to catch her as she passed on her way to sea.
