PS Waverley at Greenock

This is my first photographs of the 'Waverley' since she started her summer cruise season in the Clyde this year.

Gorgeous weather and a great day for those lucky enough to be on the cruise.

I got some shots as she departed and then a few more as she returned from her cruise in the evening.

Race for the Games - Sailing Flotilla

A fun “Race To The Games” sailing passage took place today.

It was organised by Clyde Muirshiel for Disabled Children and Adults.

The event started from the James Watt Dock in Greenock and headed up river to the Science Centre in Glasgow.

Day in the Sunshine

Short walk near Coves Reservoir today yielded a few photos.

The remains of a Second World War gun emplacement are still visible.

  This was an anti-aircraft battery and part art of the Clyde AA Defences.

The battery was equipped with four gun emplacements

Met up with a couple walking their dogs and one - Tess - was Maya's double. Quite amazing to see them together.

The local families were happy to pose as they enjoyed the very warm sunshine today.

Final image was of a much cooler variety as the sun was setting.

Sunny Sunday River Clyde

Not too early a start this morning as the scheduled cruise ship 'Discovery' was not an early bird.

She arrived in warm sunshine looking splendid against the backdrop of the Cowal hills.

She was soon safely berthed at the Greenock Ocean Terminal.

I popped back later in the afternoon to capture her departure along with some other shots of passing ships.

Kinneil House

So after the visit to the Kelpies it was on to Bo'ness for a visit to Kinneil House.

The house is only open four times a year and contains some artwork on the internal walls.

Sadly I can't show the interior as the staff were insistent that taking photographs was verboten.

I explained that my cameras had no flash but it was a firm and blanket no. Notices inside clearly stated no 'flash' photography and I would of course respected this, so very disappointed with the lack of flexibility shown.

Being a member of Historic Scotland I always praise the friendliness of the staff but not on this occasion - voluntary staff may explain the differences.

However, I would highly praise the lady who gave the presentation inside as she explained the history and the story of the 'white lady'.
