Prince of Wales - Bridge Module Transit

The bridge module constructed at BAE System's Govan Yard in Glasgow started it's journey to Rosyth on the East coast.

Once there it will be added to the hull of the aircraft carrier "Prince of Wales' currently under construction.

The Inverness based tug 'Strathdon' will take the tow through.

She was ably assisted by the Svitzer tug "Ayton Cross' from Govan to Greenock.

Lady Bejum

The Bulk Carrier 'Lady Bejum' arrived on the Clyde today and made her way up to Glasgow.

It was a nice - if cold - sunny morning so I ventured to Greenock and managed a few shots as she passed Greenock.

Also one shot as she passed Dumbarton taken from my home.

'Pretty Ivy' Heads to Sea

A run up to Braehead at lunch time to see the departure of the bulk carrier 'Pretty Ivy'.

Weather has been a problem for shipping movements of late so I guess the owners will be glad to see her safely out to sea.

Unusually one of the Serco tugs - 'SD Dependable' was used to assist the tow today. I believe it's been about five years since this last happened.

It was good to witness, and I'm sure it was a welcome challenge to the crew from their normal MOD work.

I wonder if this will be a thing of the future with Serco and Svitzer tugs working together.

'Sentosa Bulker' Heads to Sea

The bulk carrier 'Sentosa Bulker' departed Glasgow this afternoon and headed down towards Greenock as she made her way out to sea.

Managed a few shots as she passed and was fortunate enough to also see the the cargo vessel 'BBC Anglia' as she headed upriver to Glasgow.

River Clyde on a Busy Day

Another early start to catch the 'Sea Resolute' as she departed Sheildhall and pass on down the river to open sea.

Bright start but heavy showers were soon to follow as I neared Greenock.

The river was fairly busy so I was fortunate enough to get a few photos.

'Mahri' is a spaniel and she looked the part as a 'Sea Dog' as she spent time with her owner - one of the crew on the 'Svitzer Milford'.

Astoria - Berthing at Rothesay Dock

Seeing the 'Astoria' heading for Rothesay Dock, and it being a nice sunny morning, I headed to Clydebank to get some photographs.

Weather was changeable but stayed dry, though quite windy.

As always, this is a good spot to watch the tugs at work as they manoeuvre these large tankers through the gap and in to the Dock.
