Glasgow River Festival - 2009

Glasgow River Festival was held on 25 & 26 July this year

Vital Spark - a regular visitor

Science Museum Tower and lift complex

Zapcats having some fun

Pirates ahoy !!

Hot Oil & Water do NOT mix as ably demonstrated by the Fire Service

Making a splash

It was a much quieter event this year from an exhibit perspective - though the crowds came out strongly on both days.

Cancer Research UK - Glasgow River Festival 2009

Cocktails, Canapés, & Cupcakes event held at the Glasgow River Festival 2009

I received a kind invitation to go aboard and take a photograph of these lovely ladies, which I was more than pleased to accept

They all appeared to be enjoying themselves - and all in aid of a very good cause

Those cakes look yummy

East Fortune Air Show - 2009

We had fantastic weather for today's Air Display - could have not been better

Everyone seemed to be having a great day out

With no disrespect intended to all the other attractions - which were all excellent - the Avro Vulcan Flypast stole the show - doesn't it always?

As always, the Guinot Wing Walking Team were exciting to watch

The birds of prey display was both fun to watch, and also very informative

It doesn't get any better than this

Goathland (Aidensfield) Station

Steam locomotive pictured at Goathland Station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway

We spend quite a lot of our holiday time at the various stations. They all have their own unique identity and watching these trains with their awesome power and strength is a privilege.

My hat goes off to the many volunteers that work so hard to keep this fantastic line open.

St Mary's Church

St Mary's Church in Whitby.

It's a MUST visit for us when we holiday in that area.

You can access by walking from the 'Abbey' car park, or if you're both brave and fit enough, via the "199 steps" stairway. It's not really as bad as it sounds.

Cleveland Way

Our holiday caravan is situated in the Cleveland Way Walk - so a quick pop down to the cliff produced this photograph

Walkers pass our van to enter and exit the path that forms the Walk

James Herriot (Alf Wight)

Again this year we managed to get along to one of those places we've always wanted to, but never quite managed.

This time is was the James Herriot Museum in Thirsk.

We're fans of the TV series 'All Creatures Great and Small'.

Another Museum I would thoroughly recommend.

Staff were extremely helpful and gave great advice on parking and where best to eat.

Museum itself takes about an hour to go around - good activities for younger children too.

York

As always, a visit to York is a MUST on our hols.

Starting with a little retail therapy at the 'Designer Outlets', and then park the car and walk in to the town proper.
A bite of lunch to reinforce us, and then we visit York Minster and the 'Shambles'

This year the temperature was in the 30 degrees centigrade making it very warm indeed.

Hornsea - A Holiday Visit

We took our normal run down to the Freeport at Hornsea as part of the holiday.

A little retail therapy is always welcome.

Always wanted to visit the Hornsea Folk Museum but this was the first year we managed to fit it in to our schedule

Great wee Museum, and very helpful and friendly staff.

If you find yourself in that area, I would heartily recommend a visit.

"Hush" - A short film - Filming - Day Two

Day two of the 'shoot' saw an early start on the Sunday morning, and a long day thereafter.

However, as always the cast and crew were in good fettle and another enjoyable - if tiring day - was had by one and all.

This photograph is 'Anna' in the 'Night Club' location - taken later in the day.

Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway

While through visiting the Falkirk wheel with my mum, we also went to the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway where we had a great time.

Takes you back for sure, and the volunteers were very helpful and made our day out all the more enjoyable.

This is another attraction that I would heartily recommend. A great trip out for the kids as well as mums and dads.

Falkirk Wheel

Along with my mum, we took a run through to the East Coast, and among other things, we visited the Falkirk Wheel

Weather was very good and it was someting to watch the 'wheel' in action

Overall it was well worth the trip, and the surrounding area was spotless.

Staff in the shop were also very chatty and helpful - Top Marks

Cruise Ship - Black Prince

The - Black Prince - departs from Greenock Ocean Terminal for the last time

She is being retired and will no longer visit the Clyde

My friend used to sail on her regularly - preferring this to the hustle and bustle of the airport
