Svitzer Tugs - James Watt Dock, Greenock

A nice sunny afternoon and a planned visit to Newark Castle became unstuck as it only opens in the summer months.

Not wanting to waste the remainder of the afternoon light I ventured down to James Watt Dock and managed a few images of the Svitzer tugs.

Anglegarth is in the Garvel Dry Dock for maintenance.

Ormesby Cross would appear to be providing cover till she returns to duty.

Joint Warrior Departures

Up early and across to Faslane for the Joint Warrior military exercise departures  from Faslane Naval Base in the Gareloch.

It started sunny - though very cold in the strong wind.

We lost the sun for a while as grey clouds gathered, than departed to give us some more better weather.

Some of the warships will return in a few weeks for a debrief session.

We saw the arrival of the SD Victoria early this afternoon.

A pity the light and weather were not a bit more accommodating to give us better quality images.

Not sure how long she will be here for, or indeed the purpose of her visit.

Joint Warrior - Friday Arrivals

Well the weather was better than yesterday, but still not the best for photography with these 'grey' hulls.

Good to see the arrivals at both Faslane and KGV Docks, but disappointed that there is such a poor USN Navy representation this time around.

I also gather there have been quite a few calling off from other nations too.

No submarine arrivals yet either.

HMS Bulwark Joins Joint Warrior Exercise - Faslane

Headed to Faslane first thing, but with poor light and not much appearing to be likely to happen, went over to Erskine to catch the three ship convoy heading to Glasgow.

While waiting got a heads up that HMS Bulwark would be arriving at Faslane - so passed up the convoy in favour of her arrival.

HMS Sutherland Departs the Clyde

HMS Sutherland departed the River Clyde this afternoon.

She left KGV Glasgow docks and proceeded downriver.

Her Helo was removed from the hanger on the way down.

T-Class Submarine - On Exercise in Loch Long

 
 The weather was awful, and very poor light, so images are a bit grainy.

One of our Trident submarines is on exercise in Loch Long near Cove.

There must have been some wet feet out there today. I know I was drenched on the shore.
