Around the River Clyde Today

With some spare time I went around some of the usual haunts in Greenock.

Caught the Bro Developer as she departed and then a bit of time at James Watt Dock - all in a rather dull day.

Svitzer Caldey - Greenock

Having tried to get pics of this 'visitor' yesterday I was thwarted as she berthed at the Ocean Terminal being to large for the James Watt Dock.

She left this morning to head back to her base at Liverpool, so a few images in poor weather and light.

Greenock Christmas Lights Switch On - 2011

Tonight saw the Christmas Lights Switch-On in Cathcart Square, Greenock.
There was an hour of entertainment hosted by Radio Clyde DJ - Gina McKie - who did a fantastic job of keeping the event in full flow.
'Rock Choir' - only formed ten weeks ago - gave a rousing medley and had feet tapping and hands clapping with the crowd.
Local singer from Wemyss Bay - Melissa Murdoch - gave a great performance, and we had folk from the crowd on stage dancing.
And of course Santa put in a welcome appearance much to the delight of the kids - young and old.
When seven o'clock arrived the lights where promptly switched on.

Alan Cumming - King's Theatre

A great time at the King's Theatre today, and a surprise as we had so much talent to entertain us - and I suspect - themselves.

Alan Cumming hosted  Greg Hemphill, Paul Riley, Dave Anderson, Johnny Beattie, Maureen Beattie, Juliet Cadzow, and John Ramage who were all involved.

As an audience we were fully engaged in the presentation on Scottish Variety, Panto, and Stories from 'Behind the Scenes' - just wonderful.

And of course we closed the event with a song sheet in true Pantomime style -

"Oh, ye cannae shove your granny off the bus,
Oh, ye
cannae shove your granny off the bus,
Oh, ye
cannae shove your granny,
'Cause she's your mammy's mammy.
Oh, ye
cannae shove your granny off the bus"

......  to the tune of - 'She'll be Coming Round the Mountain'

Riverside Museum

My first trip up to the Riverside Transport Museum in Glasgow.

Initial thoughts are it's very 'pristine' and 'modern' and perhaps lacks the 'taste and smell' of the exhibits.

Nevertheless a worthwhile visit and I'm sure I will return.

Busy River Clyde This Morning

A fair bit of activity on the river this morning as the barges 'Nab' and Needles'  departed under tow with the tug 'Kingston'.

Dredging work at Faslane must have been completed.
