Dreich Afternoon at the Garvel Dry Dock

Arrived at the Garvel dry dock in the rain and not looking too promising.

March has not started well weather wise.

Then a break in the heavy showers and down I go to get some quick shots before they return.

Suitable attired with work boots, hi-vis vest, and hard hat I'm as safe as I can be on the floor of the dock.

The showers don't stay away long and it's a haul back on to the top of the dock and some shelter aboard the MV Saturn.

Hung around a bit but it was becoming obvious I wasn't going to get it dry again, and the light was fading with the low cloud.

Headed home and time to process the images - hope you enjoy them.

Around Inverclyde

A small pleasure cruiser - 'Gralian' - had gone upriver to Glasgow.

As I hadn't seen her in the Clyde before I was quite keen to get a photo as she departed.

It was a nice sunny day so managed to get a few more images before I headed home.

PS Waverley - Maintenance Time

A rare opportunity to document the grand old lady - PS Waverley - as she undergoes some TLC before starting her summer season.

She exits the dry dock on Monday morning and will go on trials and get compass adjustments before heading up to her regular berth in Glasgow.

Here's hoping she has a bumper season as it will generate revenues to keep this icon alive on our river.

She is after all a major part of our Clyde heritage - and irreplaceable for sure.

280 Tonne Cable Reel Move

The 280 Tonne cable reel constructed at Inchgreen Quay was moved today on to a barge for onward transportation.

This was a lengthy process and now that it is installed on the barge - will be towed by the tug 'Viking' later in the week to it's destination.
