Mississippi Star

A nice sunny spell as the oil tanker 'Mississippi Star' passes Dumbarton and Langbank on her way out to see.

Scotland Boat Show - 2014

Went along to the Scotland Boat Show this afternoon at the Kip Marina in Inverkip.

The event ran over three days with a variety of entertainments for the visitors.

We were treated to an acrobatic flying display, wet jets performing their stuff, a pipe band, some expensive automobiles, the Inverclyde Rock Choir, and much more besides.

An enjoyable afternoon and it also stayed dry.

The First Captain’s Company of Henry Tillier’s Regiment at Dumbarton Castle

After Greenock it was a trip up and across to Dumbarton Castle.

Historic Scotland had an event with The First Captain’s Company of Henry Tillier’s Regiment taking centre stage.

As with all such like events it proved to be both informative and enjoyable.

Some time was spent in conversation with the group who were happy to answer any questions.

Well worth the time and effort in getting to see them after such a busy day today.

Portknockie, Morayshire

Working my way along the Moray coastline with the fine weather continuing I enjoy the beauty of the views from the hill above Bow Fiddle Rock.

Then round to the steep, bendy hill to Portknockie harbour where the kids are enjoying themselves jumping in the water at the harbour.

It's been a fine day with plenty of photo opportunities and some good chat with locals and visitors along the way.

And a great ice cream with butterscotch flavouring from Cullen.

Life is good.

Fraser's Dragoons - Dumbarton Castle

A great day out at Dumbarton Castle today with spring weather.

Fraser's Dragoons presented their re-enactment much to the pleasure and enjoyment of a large crowd.

Muskets, pikes, and swords were demonstrated. The musket vollies were both spectacular visually and deafeningly loud.

This was to take us back to 1645 when Scotland was under the control of the Royalists.

My highlight was the dragoons charging to where I was kneeling taking photographs and unexpectedly - to me - they continued right past me. Fantastic.

I applaud the group with their dedication and friendliness to their audience.
