Submersible Barge in Tow

The submersible barge 'Dina Launch' on her tow to BAE Systems in Govan.

She was ably assisted by the 'Stadt Sloevaag' on the bow, and 'CMS Warrior' at the stern.

Thankfully the weather was kind till she had passed.

CMS Warrior

CMS Warrior arrived at her home port of Greenock last Saturday in blustery wind and rain.

I was given an opportunity to see around her when things were a bit calmer.

She is operated by Clyde Marine Services and is a welcome addition to the Clyde Port.

My thanks to the crew - and it has to be said they operate under severe and dangerous circumstances at times, but obviously love their work.

She has a few jobs scheduled already for later in the week and I'm sure she will be a busy tug on the Clyde.

Morning at James Watt Dock

Popped down to Greenock this morning to get some photos of the Irish vessels coming over.

I believe the 'Lough Foyle' was last here in 2009.

Dredgers 'Lough Foyle' and 'Argus' are going in for some TLC to the dry dock on Monday, and the tug 'Shrove' headed out to sea again.

A beautiful sunny morning and actually quite warm too which was a bonus.

'Marian V' - Dutch Tug

The 'MarianV' passed Port Glasgow this morning on her way upriver to Clydebank.

She was towing a barge which will be taken up the River Cart to be loaded with wind farm parts.

Thereafter the barge and load will be taken to their next destination.

MV Rover - Sunday Ferry Service

Clyde Marine are providing a Sunday ferry service between Gourock and Kilcreggan starting today.

The usual ferry company - Clydelink - have opted not to provide this service on a Sunday.

This has been a controversial service since Clyde Marine lost the contract for the route, with Clydelink coming under criticism on a number of fronts.

MV Rover in her new colour scheme - white - looked very smart at first, but she is already showing signs of scuffs making her look a bit untidy.

Perhaps white was a poor choice.

A few years back the MV Cruiser changed her scheme to light blue but that only lasted one season - I suspect for similar reasons.

Mostly Wemyss Bay

Decided as it was a good day that I'd pop down to Wemyss Bay for some images as the sun set this evening.

Stopped off at Victoria Harbour in Greenock to grab a quick 'record' shot of the 'MV Rover' as she has been painted white. I understand this is to do with her summer excursions up the Clyde to Glasgow.

Then carried on down to Wemyss Bay and a few with slow shutter speeds to soften the water and give a smooth appearance.

After the sun set it was up the road and home for dinner.
