HMS Westminster Departs

A wet morning with poor visibilty and rain doesn't make for ideal images.

However, here's a few as HMS Westminster departed the Clyde.

Around the Clyde

Fortunately I had my camera as I walked Maya, and also fortunate that a RN submarine was departing.

Caught her at the Cloch.

Later in the day I went to Greenock for some shoots on the cruise ship leaving - sadly it was a bit damp and cold.

NLV Pharos - Greenock Repairs

NV Pharos arrived in Greenock this morning and after taking her Pilot she proceeded to the Garvel dry dock.

During routine operations at Skerryvore Lighthouse on Saturday past she sustained minor damage.

She returned to her home port in Oban for inspection and then made her way to the dry dock for repairs.

River Clyde Movements

I was out on my travels when I saw a nuclear submarine heading out to sea.

A bit of a push but just managed to get to Cloch lighthouse in time to catch her as she sped past.

Heading back home I saw Calmac's new ferry which is undergoing sea trial just now and managed to get a few images both in Gourock, and in Greenock.

'Emerald Princess' Departing Greenock Tonight

The cruise ship 'Emerald Princess' departed from Greenock this evening.

At 113,500 tonnes she carries around 3,000 passengers.

Her passengers were fortunate  with the weather on their visit, as the forecast for the town tomorrow is heavy winds, rain, and flooding.

This is her third visit to Greenock having been here in both 2011 and 2012.

She is bound for Cobh - a popular tourist seaport town on the south coast of County Cork in Ireland.

Summer Evening - Cruise Ship and Views

Headed down to Greenock this evening to see the cruise ship 'Prinsendam' off as she departed.

Decided to carry on down the coast a bit and found myself on the beach - at low water - just past the Cloch lighthouse in time to catch her coming round the point.

As we're past the longest day now - we could say "the nights are fair drawing in" - but that would be premature, and I'm sure we've many more nice evenings to come with good light.

HMS Illustrious and Others

A right murky day but wanted to get a few images of HMS Illustrious as she departed the Clyde as this may well be her last visit.

Caught a few others as I waited.
