P1 Powerboat Grand Prix of the Seas - Inverclyde

A first for Inverclyde as the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea was held in Scotland for the first time.

The sun shone, the boats and their crews did their bit, the crowds turned out in appreciation, and it was another very successful venture for Inverclyde.

An estimated 22,000 people attended today and everyone seemed to be having a good time and enjoying the spectacle.

As well as the Powerboat and Jet Ski races there were various displays offshore with freestyle Jet Ski and Flyboard fun.

Another day tomorrow though the forecast suggests we may be back to more typical Greenock summer weather.

'Sea Princess' on Greenock Visit

The cruise ship 'Sea Princess' arrived in Greenock this morning as part of her round-the-world cruise.

Her last port was Dublin and she departed at around 17:45 this evening bound for Reykjavik.

The voyage began in Australia earlier this year, and also finishes in Australia later in the year.

The Esplanade was very quiet this evening as she left, not many turned out to wave her goodbye.

Sound to Sea

Tonight was the first night of the 'Sound to Sea' nautical extravaganza in Glasgow.

We were fortunate to have a reasonably warm evening and more importantly it stayed dry.

A variety of artists performed from a number of vessels for our delight.

There was also fireworks to add to the colour of the event.
