Steam Trains Head North - West Highland Line

Despite the miserable 'summer' weather continuing to make things challenging - I went across to Garelochhead to get a few images of the steam train heading to Fort William for the start of the summer Jacobite train tours.

It rained hard while they were at the station - so images are perhaps not as nice as I would have liked.

HMS Ambush Submarine - Faslane Departure

I was fortunate enough to catch HMS Ambush as she departed Faslane.

I was on my way to Garelochhead to get a few images the the North bound steam train when I saw her come down the loch.

Ultimax - Bulk Carrier

Nice to see one of the bigger vessels on the Clyde.

The bulk carrier ' Ultimax' passed Port Glasgow on her way upriver to Glasgow this morning, so got a few images before I headed over to the other side of the river.

Cargo ship 'UFA' - arrives Greenock for Repairs

The cargo ship 'UFA' - a russian owned vessel - arrived at the James Watt Dock in Greenock just after lunch.

She had a collision with the West Pier at Ayr harbour.

The damage is clearly visible, and she will now be assessed for repair work.

Although unconfirmed I understand she had a problem with her steering gear.

'Stavros S Niarchos' - Open Day

I braved the wind and rain and went aboard the 'Stavros S Niarchos' today as she was open to the public.

I had a bit of sympathy as the weather undermined the best efforts of the crew.

However, a delightful and enthusiastic Rachael showed me around the vessel, and was very patient as I stopped to take a few photos on my way round.

So, despite the weather, the visit was well worthwhile.
