Gareloch Today

A drive over to the Gareloch early doors this morning and caught a French visitor to our waters in lovely warm sunshine.

I spoke with a number of German tourists staying at a Rhu hotel and they were thoroughly enjoying their visit to Scotland - it was nice to hear.

Headed across to see how the dismantling of the submarine Onyx was progressing and managed a few shots courtesy of DRB Marine.

Derelict Chapel

I came across this delightful derelict chapel on my travels.

I was saddened that it had fallen in to such disrepair but certainly looks like it's beyond saving now.

No access to the interior but from what I could see it was mostly rubble.

At least these images may provide a reminder should it be demolished.

The First Captain’s Company of Henry Tillier’s Regiment at Dumbarton Castle

After Greenock it was a trip up and across to Dumbarton Castle.

Historic Scotland had an event with The First Captain’s Company of Henry Tillier’s Regiment taking centre stage.

As with all such like events it proved to be both informative and enjoyable.

Some time was spent in conversation with the group who were happy to answer any questions.

Well worth the time and effort in getting to see them after such a busy day today.

Scottish Western Thoroughbred Vehicle - Car Event in Greenock

After seeing the participants in the Gumball Rally it was a run down to Greenock to see cars of a more vintage sort.

The event was very well attended and the owners were friendly and informative as they chatted about their pride and joy.

More importantly perhaps, it managed to sat dry.
