She was then expertly berthed by the Svitzer tugs.

Stella Ada - Tugs at Work

An early start as I arose at 03:39 to dress, breakfast, pop in to Tesco to pick up some buns, then head to the James Watt Dock where the Svitzer tug 'Anglegarth' awaited my arrival.

Safely aboard we proceeded down river to Hunterston and I was hopeful the weather may improve and we get some better light.

Sadly this wasn't to be as it stayed very dull and the rain persisted in hanging around just enough to catch the camera lens.

This is the first Blog from today and more will follow.

A big thanks go to the Svitzer personnel (you know who you are) who made this trip possible, and who went out of their way to make me part of the crew for the day, and to set me up for my shots.

Timca - Ro-Ro Cargo Ship

Timca arrived at the Ocean Terminal in Greenock this evening.

She was once a regular visitor but I personally haven't seen her in over three years.

She is a particularly fine looking vessel.

Renfrewshire Witch Hunt Re-enactment - 1697

Today was the Renfrewshire Witch Hunt Re-enactment from1697.

In 1697 eleven year old Christian Shaw became “possessed by witches" and as a result seven citizens of Renfrewshire were put to death.

This was recreated today by a dedicated group of performers and background supporters who entertained and educated us on the history.

They should all be congratulated on a very successful event, and were rewarded with a large crowd who thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Sma' Shot Cottages - Paisley

The Sma' Shot Cottages provide you with the opportunity to see two distinct periods in Paisley's weaving history.

 
Once inside the Weaver's Cottage you are transported back in time to the late 1700s.

Then you can cross the yard behind the cottage and step forward in time 70 years.

 

Experience life in the town during the 1800's with three cottages consisting of five dwelling houses.

It's only open so many days a week, and only in the summer months so plan your visit.

Olympic Torch - Inverclyde

The Olympic Torch came to Inverclyde today and the crowds turned out in their numbers to cheer.

A good natured crowd waved flags, cheered, and pointed cameras and camcorders as the runner came through upper Port Glasgow.

Strathclyde Police joined in with smiles and waves to the crowd.

All in all it was a good event in Inverclyde.
