I have driven past this building so many times over the years.

So, today finally saw me take a trip in and worth the visit.

The custodian was very helpful and information - as per usual with 'Historic Scotland' staff - so a big thanks for his efforts.

Strathspey Heritage Railway

 
Popped in to 'Boat of Garten' on my way to Buckie and in time to catch the steam train going through, and then on her way back.

Had a word with the crew - nice guys and very helpful.

Also met a nice lady 'Kate' and quite ironic that she was on holiday and came from Houston, not far from where I live.

After a cuppa continued on my way down to Buckie.

West Highland Railway Line - Steam and Diesel

A rather miserable Sunday with the weather, although Andy Murray brightened us up no end with his magnificent Olympic Gold Medal win.

Nipped across to Bowling Station and caught these in the rain.

Kinda makes it worthwhile.

Maid of the Loch

The 'Maid of the Loch' lies alongside the pier at the head of Loch Lomond.

The aim is to return her to steam operation in 2013 but much is yet to be done on raising the necessary funds.

Just a bit sad aboard her, but she is clean and tidy and hopefully she gets restored and out on the loch again soon.
