A Few Hours at Prestwick Airfield

Hearing that the Refuelling Tanker and the two Hornets would depart today I headed down to Prestwick.

After a short delay the aircraft fired up and taxied down for take-off.

Nice to see the Hornets pick up speed and take off in a lively fashion and hope my images do justice.

HMS Artful - Faslane Arrival

The Royal Navy's latest nuclear-powered submarine HMS Artful arrived at Faslane today - the first of many visits to her base.

She is the third in the Astute Class and will join 'Astute' and 'Ambush' once accepted by the navy from BAE Systems.

It's a pity the weather closed in just as she arrived, but I've managed a few images and hope you enjoy them.

Fairfield Heritage Centre

After my visit to BAE Systems I popped in to the Fairfield Heritage Centre for another browse.

The staff are extremely warm and welcoming and it's well worth a visit to see the heritage on display.

I'm sure I'll be back for another visit one of these days.

BAE Govan Open Day

Today was the open day for the families of BAE Govan workers.

Thankfully the weather stayed dry for most of the time with just the odd shower.

A good opportunity to see the sheds and how shipbuilding has evolved and changed to the present day facilities.
