Turkish 8F Steam Locomotive - 45170 - at Bo'ness

The Turkish 8F Steam Locomotive - 45170 - was on display at her new home in Bo'ness today.

She is a Glasgow built locomotive, LMS designed, and a class of 2-8-0 steam locomotive.

The sun shone - a bit too harshly perhaps - but we all got a good opportunity to take photographs in various locations along the platform.

Well done to the staff and volunteers at the SRPS for setting this up on the day.

Turkish 8F Steam Locomotive - 45170 - Arrives in Glasgow

The Turkish 8F Steam Locomotive - 45170 - arrived in Glasgow this afternoon around 14:00.

She is a Glasgow built locomotive, LMS designed, and a class of 2-8-0 steam locomotive.

She first steamed on 28 February 1942, and acquired from the British War Department in 1943.

She had been scheduled to arrive for viewing at 10:00 but a technical problem with the transport meant she was somewhat delayed.

It was a cold afternoon as the assembled enthusiast gathered to await her arrival with some anticipation.

We were not to be disappointed when she arrived and we were able to see her and get some photographs.

She departed at 15:00 bound for Bo'ness where she will again go on display on Saturday before being moved to the museum.

Donations are required for the restoration work and you can donate - CLICK HERE - if you wish to assist.

Duchess of Sutherland

Another trip through to the east coast so see one of the steam train tours on the Forth Circle line.

This time the 'Duchess of Sutherland' was doing the work.

She is an LMS Princess Coronation Class - number (4)6233 - and in Green livery. She has previously had Black and also Crimson Lake liveries.

She will be back to the Crimson Lake for next year so hopefully she'll be back up and I can get photos in that livery too.

The light was not at it's best but at least it stayed dry for the day.

The usual chasing around the circle to get images in various locations and angles.
