Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust - Open Day

Today was the annual 'Open Day' at the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust.

It seemed busier than last year and a good selection of vintage buses on display.

There were also vintage lorries and other classic vehicles to be seen.

Not forgetting a hurl on the old buses as we were transported from George Square to the garage and back.

Lunderston Bay - Twilight

Hoping for a good bright sunset tonight I headed down to Lunderston Bay near Gourock.

The clouds didn't clear so it all looked a it mundane.

However, with my new "Lee Big Stopper" filter to try out I fired off a few test images by way of experimentation.

It'll take a bit of getting used too, but not too unhappy with the results in the way of something a bit different.

Time will tell - watch this space.

Langbank at Sunset

While taking these images I wasn't too enthralled and my expectations were duly set.

Images belatedly processed and I have to say I'm very pleased with the results.

Louds Island - Laying Up in Greenock

Container ship 'Louds Island' has berthed at the Great Harbour in Greenock.

She is laid up here due to a turn-down in work and will soon be joined by her sister ship.

I have here a series of images as she made her way up the channel and then berthed by the tugs.

Chemtrans Havel

A few images of 'Chemtrans Havel'- a small tanker - as she passed Greenock bound for Rothesay Dock.

The tug 'Bruiser' was assisting.

Light was changing by the minute.

Loch Ard at Nightfall

This was the final location of the day.

Drive to Loch Ard in an attempt to get some nice sunset shots. Sadly the weather wasn't going to give us a red blazing sunset, but nonetheless we were gifted with some nice subdued lighting on a fairly calm night.

Also with a bit of time in hand we managed to have a cup of hot soup followed by a Belgian hot chocolate. Life is good.

Achray Forest - Trossachs

Our second location of the day was the David Marshall Lodge in Achray Forest.

A part of the Trossachs, this is a wonderful area to visit with many paths and walks.

The waterfall is a magnet to photographers but there is much to be seen while walking.

Inchmahome Priory - Lake of Menteith

This was the first of our planned locations for the day.

Inchmahome Priory is a 'National Trust' property, so once again putting our membership to good use.

Arriving at the jetty we await the small boat to come from the island and pick us up for our outward journey.

On arrival we are - as usual - met with friendly staff who are always very knowledgeable and happy to assist.

There is a nature trail so we opt to walk this first and then explore the Priory.

First class visit and very enjoyable.
