VOS Inspirer

VOS Inspirer arrived at the James Watt Dock in Greenock today for repair work.

She berthed in the dock and will move to the Garvel Dry Dock tomorrow, and is expected to be in for ten days.

Spoke with a few of the crew - a nice bunch.

James Watt Dock

A quick stroll at the dock on my home tonight.

Getting dark and a bit murky - typical winter light - and so early the darkness comes in.

Busy months with winter overhauls and maintenance at the adjacent Garvel dry dock.

(HMS) Duncan - Second Sea Trials

The 'Duncan' left Glasgow today and headed downriver to begin her second sea trials.

She was escorted with the tugs Battler and Bruiser.

She will return to Glasgow on completion of the trials and thereafter she is scheduled to head to Portsmouth in March 2013.

Yeoman Bank - Bulk Carrier

The bulk carrier 'Yeoman Bank' came down from Glasgow today and here are a few shots as she passed Port Glasgow.

I was very fortunate to catch her before the weather closed in again and back to heavy rain and strong winds.

She is bound for Garrucha in Spain.

Ayton Cross and Svitzer Milford were the tugs escorting her on her passage downriver.

Lord of the Isles - Ferry

The Calmac ferry 'Lord of the Isles' came out of dry dock late this afternoon.

Although the tug 'Battler' was on hand, she came out of the Garvel dry dock, canted, and then reversed in to the James Watt Dock under her own power.

There was quite a stiff wind too, so it was good to watch her manoeuvre her way in to the dock with no mishaps.

High Rise Fire - Melrose Court in Greenock

A wee bit of drama as we had a fire in a derelict high rise flat late this afternoon.

Melrose Court had some rubbish and debris located at it's base and this was set alight.

Although it all looked very dramatic the flats in Belville Street are in the process of being demolished so as far as I am aware there were no casualties thankfully.
