River Clyde and James Watt Dock

An early rise this morning and down to Greenock to get some images of the 'Bianco Venture' as she passed on her way upriver to Glasgow to discharge her cargo of animal feed.

Then a trip in to the James Watt Dock to see the damaged visor section from the 'Coruisk' Calmac ferry being loaded on to the 'Lyrawa Bay'.

After the loading was complete the visor was transported upriver to Ferguson's shipyard in Port Glasgow.

It will be repaired and restored to it's former shape before being brought back to Greenock and installed on the 'Coruisk' to make her available for service once again.

HMS Dauntless and Clyde Traffic

HMS Dauntless left her berth at Glen Mallon this morning and headed upriver to Glasgow.

She will host various civic events before departing on Monday, though sadly she will not be open to the public on this occasion.

Here are a few images of her, and some other craft on the river around the same time.

And the Sun Shone

Well today the sun shone and such a welcome sight this was to us after fairly dreich weather in the West of Scotland.

Too good to waste, headed across to Loch Long and managed to get a few shots in the bag.

Later in the day a run to Greenock was required so stopped off at the James Watt Dock to get a few shots of the 'Coruisk' as she had a coming together with a breakwater at Dunoon and suffered some bow damage.

Then on to the Lyle Hill and got a few shots as the sun set over the Cowal Hills.

Lastly, I spied the 'MV Hebridean Princess' brightly lit on the Clyde, so dropped down to the Esplanade and got a shot in fairly still waters.

A busy and rewarding day.

A quick pop in to the James Watt Dock today on my way home from shopping in Greenock.
