RSPB Lochwinnoch

A run up to the RSPB Nature Reserve at Lochwinnoch this morning.

Spent about an hour in the hide and rewarded with a few images.

I'm not a 'spotter' so may well have some of the names wrong - apologies in advance for any errors.

A walk round before heading home didn't offer much but pleased to get the Scarlet Elf Cup Funghi.

Day Trip to Glencoe

It's been a while since I visited the Glencoe area and this time of year is probably about the best time to go.

Arrived around 10:00 and the first sight was the mist in the valley as the snow covered peak of Ben Dorain rose above me from the road.

The small lay-by soon filled up as drivers stopped and grabbed a photo of the impressive view.

Then on to Inveroran via Bridge of Orchy and temperature of about -3.5 degrees.

A few shots at Inveroran and then a frozen Loch Tulla.

Next stop was the Black Rock Cottage before carrying on to the Kings House hotel where the deer are fairly tame and can be fed by hand.

Then on down Glen Etive with regular stops for photos before arriving at Loch Etive with the light starting to drop.

On the return journey up the Glen I managed a few images of young stags - albeit the light was now fading fast.

Another few stops to look back at the fiery setting sun and get a few final images.

Although the light was virtually gone it was impressive to view these stunning hills and mountains, and grateful that we have such raw beauty on our doorstep here in Scotland. We are truly blessed.

A slow drive home with traffic but a good day out and very content on arriving back at about 20:00.

Lady Bejum

The Bulk Carrier 'Lady Bejum' arrived on the Clyde today and made her way up to Glasgow.

It was a nice - if cold - sunny morning so I ventured to Greenock and managed a few shots as she passed Greenock.

Also one shot as she passed Dumbarton taken from my home.

Monte Carlo Classic Rally in Paisley Start

Tonight was the start of the 104th Monte Carlo Classic Rally with around seventy entrants gathering in Paisley.

Heavy snow was forecast so not quite sure what to expect.

However as cold an evening as it was, we did not get the snow too bad, though we did get enough to make it interesting in getting decent photographs.

I think it's good that Renfrewshire Council make the effort to host the event and although the crowd was a bit diminished, due I think to the weather, nevertheless it was a very good event and worth making the effort to go along.
