My Day's Events

My day began with a trip to the local GP and as I passed the remains of the old village shop in Langbank I grabbed a few images.

Despite best efforts from the final owners I guess the usage by the locals just wasn't sufficient to keep the shop open.

My next stop was the East India Harbour in Greenock to catch a few of the passing shipping this morning.

A nice sunny spell as the oil tanker 'Mississippi Star' passes Dumbarton and Langbank on her way out to see.

Solar Eclipse from Langbank

Today was the day we have been anticipating and it's received much in the way of publicity from the media.

Billed as the best solar eclipse in years I personally found it quite disappointing.

Throughout Britain the eclipse reached at least 83% with the darkness peaking around 09:35 -  variations depending on your actual location.

For me it didn't darken much at all and I was expecting it to get quite dark.

These images were taken with 400mm zoom lens and cropped. I used the Lee 'Big Stopper' filter to achieve a dark image and detail as best I could the passage of the moon across the sun.

We will not see another solar eclipse on this scale again until 2026.

Busy River Clyde Today

A nice bright day today - a welcome relief from the recent winds and rain.

The river was very busy today and I've documented a few as they passed the area around Port Glasgow.

Snowy Day On My Langbank Walk

Some images from Maya's later walk today - she sure loves the snow.

Still enjoying the compact camera though low light and winds meant a tripod was a must today.

A record of the first winter snow here in Langbank.

Autumn is Here

Headed to Greenock and a walk along 'The Cut' aqueduct with Maya.

Started off dry with a fair forecast but soon turned to drizzle.

Pleasant nevertheless and just about had the place to ourselves.

Never much time to get photos with Maya but had the wee Sigma compact and managed a few along the way.

Inverclyde Today

While my car was in for some (expensive) repairs to the steering and an MOT I had more than a few hours to wander.

Going light I had my wee compact camera and managed a few shots along the way.

The quality of the sensor is nothing short of amazing in my opinion.

Hope you enjoy.
