Strathspey Railway - Broomhill Station

Well, this time heading home from Buckie and stopped off at Broomhill Station near Aviemore.

This is the station where the line reaches it's terminus.

The replica station building has been reconstructed where the original once was.

It is hoped to extend the line though to Grantown.

Broomhill was used as the station for in the BBC series "Monarch of the Glen" - Glenbogle.

Celebration of the Centuries at Fort George

What a wonderful way to spend a day.

Historic Scotland again pull off a great event - "Celebration of the Centuries" - at Fort George.

The sun shone, as did all the participants who entertained and educated us in our history in wonderful fashion.

A photographer's dream with so much colour and activities throughout the day.

The following images give only a flavour of the day so come along next year and enjoy.

Portknockie, Morayshire

Working my way along the Moray coastline with the fine weather continuing I enjoy the beauty of the views from the hill above Bow Fiddle Rock.

Then round to the steep, bendy hill to Portknockie harbour where the kids are enjoying themselves jumping in the water at the harbour.

It's been a fine day with plenty of photo opportunities and some good chat with locals and visitors along the way.

And a great ice cream with butterscotch flavouring from Cullen.

Life is good.

Cullen in Morayshire

With weather like this why would we ever go abroad?

To broaden the mind of course, but this is hard to beat on a good day.
