Greenock Hills

Took Maya a walk around the hills behind the Greenock Cut this afternoon.

Poor light but a nice day for walking - little wind and not too cold for this time of year.

Met a few other dog owners walking their pets and exchanged conversation.

Walking the Dog

Took Maya on her customary walk this morning.

As ever, she bounds with the energy of youth.

Greenock

Grabbed a few shots around Greenock while waiting on 'she who must be obeyed' to complete her shopping.

I've included a photo of the old well which gave the park its name.

Installed by the local laird - John Shaw - in 1629, it bears the initials of both him and his wife.

We also have a fitting war memorial to remember those fallen in the wars.

Pheasant - In My Garden

This guy's turned up in my garden a few times this week so finally managed a couple of shots before he flew off this time.

Beautiful bird.

Mostly Wemyss Bay

Decided as it was a good day that I'd pop down to Wemyss Bay for some images as the sun set this evening.

Stopped off at Victoria Harbour in Greenock to grab a quick 'record' shot of the 'MV Rover' as she has been painted white. I understand this is to do with her summer excursions up the Clyde to Glasgow.

Then carried on down to Wemyss Bay and a few with slow shutter speeds to soften the water and give a smooth appearance.

After the sun set it was up the road and home for dinner.

Ferries - James Watt Dock

A welcome break gave us some blue skies for a very short time today, then the bad stuff came back in.

Managed to get a few shots in the James Watt Dock on my way home from shopping.

Loch Shira and Loch Portain looking resplendent after their winter maintenance were a good photo opportunity.

Crimson Mercury - Bulk Carrier Vessel

Crimson Mercury - a bulk carrier - passed Greenock and Port Glasgow on her way upriver to Glasgow this morning.

She has been in the area for a few days but I believe weather prevented her going upriver any earlier.

A rather dull and dismal day but at least it stayed dry for the photographs.

Monte Carlo Rally - Glasgow Start

A wee trip up to Glasgow this afternoon to watch the start of the Monte Carlo Rally for 2013.

Around 100 cars set off from the People's Palace at Glasgow Green.

A good crowd turned out to cheer them on their way.

It's good to see Glasgow involved in this sort of event.

Snow Time

It's funny the difference a day makes with the weather.

We had by and large escaped the snow experience in the East and South England, but today we got a taste of the white stuff.

The dog (Maya) revels in the stuff so she got a good few walks today.
